miserably
they dropped out of the field, only 10% were doing really well,
and the remaining 55% were not doing so badly as to need to drop
out but they were not doing all that great either.

and situation, is that the people who ran the program had bought
into a number of beliefs about what determines a person’s success,
none of which are true.
